He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Smith and Vonna Smith (Comer); and his sister Kathy Dawson. He is survived by: his wife Laura J. Connor; his children, Charles Smith (Joni) of Lima, Steve Smith (LeAnn) of Lima, Bill Smith (Mary Palte) of Elida, Robert Dirmeyer of Lima and Deborah Wood (Rick Kirkendall) of LaFayette; his brother-in-law Harold Dawson of Lima; his grandchildren, Phillip Jeanneret, Brandt Smith, Jenna Smith, Eric Smith (Sydney Williams), Brianna Dicke (Mike), Trevin Hirsch, Paige Kiley (David), Gracie Carmean (Shawn), Allison Dirmeyer, Kayla Wood, Cody R. Wood (Kristie) and Chase Wood; and his great grandchildren, Eli, Kenly, Maxton, Aubrey, Hayden and Gideon.
Attendance will be restricted at the funeral and visitation based on space to accommodate social distancing requirements.
