He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Ottie Cree McDonald Hartley; his former wife Billie Dean Rosser Hartley; his son John Wesley Hartley, Jr.; his son-in-law James Brent Dryden; his grandson Philip Allen Dale, Jr.; his stepmother Lola Emmons Hartley; his sisters, Frances Hartley Trumbo, Lorene Rose and Opal Tully; his half-sister Evelyn Hartley Curtis; and his brothers, Charles Tommy Hartley and Paul Estel Hartley.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Schalk Hartley; his daughters, Debbie Cree Hartley Dryden of Tennessee and Kimberly Elaine Hartley (Don); and his granddaughters, Teresa Elaine Dryden (Jason), Charlotte Ann Dryden, Krystal Cree Dryden (Wayne) and Angela Dawn Dale (Donald). He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
