He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Earl and Juanita J. Johnson; his siblings, Annie Jean Battles, Rosetta Johnson, Wanda Shamburger and Ronald Johnson; his significant other Hyacinth Comrie; and his children, Patrick K. Johnson, Kieran J and Kimberly S. Coltrain. He was also cherished by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
