He was predeceased by: his former wife Tina. He is survived by: his wife Lydia; his children, John B. Cartafalsa Jr. (Anne) and Mary Jean Hunt (John); his grandsons, Jeffrey Hunt and Jack Cartafalsa; and his brother Joseph Cartafalsa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory (CCNY ROTC 1952) to The Alumni Association of the City College of New York, P.O. Box 177, New York, NY 10027.
