He was predeceased by: his brothers, John, Gary and Glen Slater. He is survived by: his brother Robert "Bob" Slater; his sister-in-law Yolan Slater; his nephews, Brett Slater (Kelly) and Tyler Slater; his cousins, Howard and Donna Craft; and his friend Eric Akerley.
