He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard S. Root and Helen Hewlett Root; his brother Ralph "Pork" Root of Interlaken; his grandson David Oaks of Ocala, FL; and his brother-in-law Carlton Benham of Trumansburg.
He is survived by: his spouse Honey; his children, Ronald Richard Root, Jr. of Trumansburg and Kimberly Root Oaks (James) of Eldora, Iowa; his grandchildren, Justin Root of Rochester and Rachel Luce (Dalton) of Eldora, Iowa.; his great grandchildren, Kylee, Maliky, Cameron, Brooklyn, Mackaelynn, Keyson, Quinn, Lynch and Joshua; his great great grandchildren, Waylon and Wyatt; his siblings, Roger Root of Canandaigua and Sandra Lewis of Syracuse; his sisters-in-law, Joan Root of Trumansburg, Peg Benham of Trumansburg and Marion Case (Stephen) of Union Springs; his friend Corky Cansdale; and also JoAnn Root of Trumansburg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
