He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Townsend and Mary Lorraine Kraatz Townsend; his son Richard P. Townsend; and his brother Ronald. He is survived by: his children, Kim Townsend, Tracy Gertz (Michael), Jodie Tubridy and Paul Townsend (Jessica); his grandchildren, Sara Mosher (Nick), Derek Schoonens (Jessica), Steven Gertz (Jessica), Bryan Gertz, Nicholas Tubridy (Karri), Alex Tubridy (Colleen), Lisa Tubridy and Lydia Bucher; his great grandchildren, Jonathan Miller, Olivia Tubridy, Zoe Tubridy, Madison Schoonens and Lincoln Schoonens; and his siblings, Bruce Townsend (Pat), Roger Townsend (Shirley), Douglas Townsend (Martha), Mary Bessinger (late Gordon), Dorothy Ramming (John), Clarence Townsend (Ronald), Jane Dent (Rick), Ruthanne LaPort (Dave) and Donald Townsend. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
