He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Gay and Evelyn Gay (Howard); his son Shawn; his grandson Wesley; his brothers, Charles, Robert, Gordon and Raymond; and his nephew Corey Jaquish.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Provost; his children, Charlie Gay (Lori Kimball) and Krissy Leerkes (Brad); his sister Eva Cross (Donald); his grandchildren, Justin Gay, Tracie Gay, Bryce Gay, Peyton Leerkes and Paige Leerkes; his great grandchildren, Parker Gay and Ryan Gay; and his sister-in-law Mary Green. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
