He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara; his granddaughter Alissa; and his brother John Birner (late Ree). He is survived by: his children, Eric Birner (Laurie), Aimee Van Brocklyn (Todd), Jeffrey Birner and Kristen Birner (Mitch Kucia); his grandchildren, Amanda, Eric Jr. (Rachel Fornalik), Alexandra and Andrew; his great grandchildren, Julius and Jace; his brother Robert Birner (Mary Ellen); and his cousin Simon "Skip" Ulmer.
