He was predeceased by: his parents, Nasser J. Flihan and Wadeha Flihan (Hobaica); his siblings, Julia L. "Julie" Flihan, Lamya Salvo and Joseph N. Flihan; his parents-in-law, Donald and Helen Mathews; and his sister-in-law Kathleen DellaRocca.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Pat" Mathews; his sons, James N. (Gina Flihan), Dr. Donald A. (Peri Flihan) and David M. (Denise Flihan); his grandchildren, Jimmy II, Sidney Flihan, Freddy Flihan (Tiffany), Brandon Anthony Flihan, Gabrielle Flihan, David Flihan II and Jenna Flihan; and his great grandchild Tyson James Flihan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
