He was predeceased by: his sisters, Mary Ellen Romanowski, Louise Stoyle and Lucille Brennan. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Heft; his children, Dawne Mowbray (Michael), David Heft (Christi), Diane Brown (Daniel), Donald Heft (Colleen) and Debra Allred; and his close friend Gene Lillis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo or Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
