He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Backer and Charlotte "Lottie" Lisowski Backer; his sons, Brian Keith and Jeffrey James; his siblings, Shirley Hunt and Albert Backer; and his brothers-in-law, Brian Underwood and Dick Witzigman.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Ross; his children, JoAnn Clark (Skip) of Alabama, Horace Backer Jr. (Michelle) of West Leyden, Greg Backer (Nuri) of Florida and Eric Backer of Boonville; his sisters, Brenda Witzigman, Linda Underwood and Lorraine Gardinier; and his pet Lily. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 25th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home (807 W Chestnut St, Rome, NY 13440). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 25th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
