He was predeceased by: his parents, Rubin Gurwitz and Ella Plotkin Gurwitz. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Barban Gurwitz of West Hurley; his children, Deborah Schachter of Hurley and Daniel "Baruch" Gurwitz (Jill Pelavin) of Boston, MA.; his grandsons, Sam and Eli Schachter; and his close friends, Carissa Henson, Brandi Williams and Brandi Planthaber.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease, Hudson Valley Hospice, or the West Hurley Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
