Marlene Gromis, devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and niece passed peacefully at home. She was beloved by her family and friends. Marlene had the gifted ability to maintain friendships, some of which lasted the better part of nine decades. She was born in Brooklyn, NY where she met the love of her life, Marvin Gromis. Marlene and Marvin were inseparable, starting each morning laughing and adoring each other. Marlene was known for her razor sharp intellect, keen wit and her great sense of humor. She was an avid reader and was in the habit of reading the New York Times cover to cover daily and relished the opportunity to complete each day's crossword puzzle. Marlene was always quick to remind all that she had lived a great life, had the most wonderful marriage and was blessed with innate contentment that carried her through life with a deep satisfaction and gratitude. Marlene adored her children Susan and Marc and was filled with pride at their professional accomplishments and personal achievements. She always supported Susan and Marc's ambitions and life choices without hesitation. As an eternal optimist, Marlene always looked for the best in everyone. She was always interested in the families' activities and nothing was ever more important to her than the wellbeing of her children and her children's children.
After raising her children, Marlene pursued her career first as a bookkeeper and ultimately as the controller for Prestige Caterers. Her meticulous attention to detail earned the respect of all who worked with her. She flourished in the fast paced business environment where she could utilize all of her talents.
Marlene and Marvin called Bayside NY home for over 50 years. After retirement they wintered in Boynton Beach FL at Hunter's Run Resort. Hunter's Run has been her full time home for the last nine years where Marlene socialized with her friends and regularly enjoyed playing bridge.
