He was predeceased by: his parents, John Francis Jr. and Anne Mary Boyle (Sloane); his wife Maureen Boyle; his children, John Scala and Colleen Scala; and his pet Mickey Boyle.

He is survived by: his sons, Shawn Boyle of West Virginia and Shpend Betsa of Rochester; his grandchildren, Lule Betsa, Diell Betsa, Jet Betsa, Catherine Lindgren, John Tangen (Trisha) and Melissa Scala; and his great grandchildren, Alexander, Carter, Ava and Olivia Tangen.
