He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Crandall of Bolivar; his children, William Payne of Bolivar, Patricia Darrin (Dave) of Auburn, Diana Smith (Dan Cowell) of Bolivar and Steven Payne (Jessica) of Auburn; his grandchildren, Charace (Nick), Jeremy, Joshua, Brad (Lynsey) and Angela (Ken); his great grandchildren, Hannah, Hazel, Harper, Kenny, Spencer and Lilly; and his sister Nancy Mattox of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
