He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Murphy and Helen Murphy (Weimer); his former wife Sally Lundy; his son Matthew; and his siblings, Jack Murphy (Betty), Robert "Tubby" Murphy (Marian), Thomas Murphy (Roberta) and Patricia Scott (Richard).
He is survived by: his wife Gladys Sobeck (Sherwood); his sons, James Murphy (Kathleen) and Kevin Murphy (Sheila); his stepchild Geralyn Gough (Kenneth); his grandchildren, Daniel, Shawn, Sarah, Richie and Gavin Murphy; his stepchildren, Robert Sobeck (Brenda), Dennis Sobeck (Anne) and Reita Lynch (Terry); and his stepgrandchildren, Meri Madison (Ryan), Patrick Lynch (Jessica), Lauren Graham (Shawn), Benjamin Sobeck and Elizabeth Sobeck. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
