He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Carl and Edith Cole (Zeitler); his sister Suzanne Ferry; his grandson Jay Thomas Maxwell; his nephews, Bill Ferry and Jay Stevens; and his brother-in-law Francis McCracken.

He is survived by: his wife Nitia McCracken; his children, Julie Ann Cole of Westminster, CO, J. Jeffrey Cole (Leanne) of Townsend, TN and Jeremy J. Cole (Mary Kate) of Wellsville; his grandchildren, Holly Maxwell, Liz, Molly, Sarah Cole and Jack Cole; his brother Jim; his sister-in-law Nancy Stevens; and his nieces and nephews, Frank, Richard Ferry, James, Janice Stevens and Amy Gowdy.
