He was predeceased by: his parents, Jennings Stanton and Thelma Stanton (Decker); his wife Barbara Lynch; his children, Colleen Stanton and Mervin Stanton, Jr.; and his siblings, Marvin Stanton and Joyce Cain.
He is survived by: his children, Robin (Mike MacCoy) of Wellsburg, Bernadette Stanton of Wellsburg, Maureen Stanton (Tim Keener) of Wellsburg, Lawrence (Tonja Stanton), Scott (Kim Stanton) and Jennings (Sarah Stanton); and his siblings, Janice Keller of Elmira, Linda Wood of Elmira and Lynn Stanton. He is also survived by twenty three grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren.
