He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Hakes and Sadie Hakes (Snell); his mother-in-law Margaret Rice; and his brother Len Latchford. He is survived by: his wife Pamela J. Hakes; his children, Elizabeth Smith (Beth) and Jeffrey VanAuken; his son-in-law Jeremy Gross; his grandchildren, Patience, Savannah, Dominick, Anthony, Jeffrey, Jr. and Jayden; his sister Clara Perchinski; his brother-in-law Robert Rice; and his nephew William Rice.
