He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl R. "Bob" Smithler and Audrey Wilson Smithler; his son Lonne Michael Smithler; and his sister Star. He is survived by: his wife Virginia "Ginny" Zimmerman Smithler; his children, Marci Lee Smithler and Edward R. Smithler (Stephanie); and his siblings, Lyle Smithler (Theresa), Scott Smithler (Sue), Georgie Speck (Al) and Lynn Smith (Dale). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
