He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Ukrainian; his wife Lana; his children, Katya Fuentes (Alfredo), Aaron Kariuk (Christina), Kristina Allerton (Brian) and Michelle Mriza (Marsel); his grandchildren, Viggo, Neo Fuentes, Isla, Violet Allerton and Miles Mriza; and his sister Marie Chas. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Michael's name to Open Door Mission or Samaritan's Purse.
