He was predeceased by: his close friend Margorie McGee of Carthage, NY; the mother of his children Joy Kaplin of Webster; and his parents, Clarence Kaplin and Florance Kaplin of Williamson. He is survived by: his children, Mark Kaplin of Moore, SC, Guy Kaplin of Penfield, Todd Kaplin (Patty Van Houter) of Macedon and Michelle Boulter (Jeff) of Webster; his grandchildren, Katrina Kaplin, Josh Kaplin (Lauren), Victoria Kaplin (Ben), Tylor Grimes (Faith), Addie Green, Claire Kaplin and Griffin Boulter; his great grandchildren, Kendall, Blair, Dahlia, Kasen Kaplin, Chloe, Bentley and Derek Green; and his siblings, Linda Shelton (Jim) of Greer, SC and Darwin Kaplin (Marge) of Decatur, GA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins.
