He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gent and Winifred Gent; his brother William; his former wife Barbara Stefano; his great grandchild Codey Sila; his niece Robin Carter; and his brother-in-law Elmer Novy.
He is survived by: his wife Judi Stritzel Gent; his children, Heidi Lockwood (Greg), John Gent and Christopher Gent (Diane); the parent of his children Sheary Carr; his stepchildren, Elizabeth Stefano-Jarusiritharangkul (Kenny), Thomas Stefano (Sharon), Christine Stefano, Veronica Woodard (Bruce), Kevin Smith (Lisa), Jeffrey Smith (Lisa), Scott Smith, Shawn Smith (Trudi) and Jamie Smith (Laura); his sister Barbara Novy; and his nieces, Sharon Boss, Peggy Novy, Debbie Meguire and Jennifer Kirschenmann. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
