He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Briggs and Edith Briggs (Valentine); his daughter Nancy Middleton; and his in-laws, Grace Dillon (Kenneth), Rodney Briggs (Betty) and Robert Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Jerrie Briggs of Wayland; his children, James Briggs (Mary Last) of Wayland, Julia Davis of Wayland and Barbara Smithers (Brian) of Winter Garden, FL; his son-in-law Tom Middleton of North Cohocton; his stepson Casey Vose of Wayland; his grandchildren, Mikaela Middleton, Brian Middleton (Julia), Daniel Middleton (Jessica), Benjamin Briggs (Emily), Molly Vandelinder (Terry), Sarah Converse (Michael), William Briggs (Emma Stappenbeck), Micah Davis (Erica), Matthew Davis (Miki), Trina and Timothy White; and his siblings, Jeanne Smith of Clifton Springs and Lauren Briggs (Barbara) of Big Flats. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 29th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Wayland United Methodist Church (1 East Ave, Wayland, NY 14572).
