He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur K. Sharpsteen and Naomi Frisbie Sharpsteen; his wife Mary Ellen Sharpsteen; and his sisters, Veronica "Nancy" Shaffer, Audrey LaFritz and Grace Miller.

He is survived by: his children, Gene Sharpsteen (Ann) of Waverly, Pam Sharpsteen of Chemung, Mary Lea Robinson of Chemung, Rich "Dickie" Sharpsteen (Vera) of Waverly and Steve Sharpsteen (Kris) of Waverly; and his siblings, Darlene Robinson (Russell), Beverly Ellison (William) of Halsey Valley and Gilbert "Bucky" Sharpsteen (Cathy) of Chemung. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
