He was predeceased by: his father Anthony Van Buskirk. He is survived by: his mother Marilyn Van Buskirk (Thomas) of Niskayuna; his siblings, Peter Van Buskirk (Ellen) and Martha Simone (Floyd) of Rexford; his niece Mia Otey (Kennon); his nephews, Angelo Simone (Marcy), Nathaniel Van Buskirk (Allison) and Nicholas Van Buskirk (Samantha); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Leonardo, Elliana Otey and Calvin Van Buskirk.
