He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Tappan and Marion Tappan; his parents-in-law, Willard and Florence Schaffer; his son Charles Matthew Tappan; his son-in-law Cameron Krause; his siblings, Jim, Leo, Pete (Sonia) and Sharon Kovarik (Joe Kovarik); and his siblings-in-law, Dick Covey, Marlene (Richard Keene) and June (Richard Scharr).
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte A. Tappan; his children, Holly Krause, Tiffany Dow (Dan) and Brandon Tappan; his daughter-in-law Aviva Tappan; his grandchildren, Connor, Sage, Sofia, Samantha, Jackson, Justin, Joshua and Miranda; his brother Ron Tappan (Linda); and his sisters-in-law, Charlotte M. Tappan and Velma Twigg (Cecil). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
