He was predeceased by: his mother Sarah Shaffer; his grandfather Les Shaffer; and his aunt Mona Dowie. He is survived by: his father Joel Cortez; his grandmother Katherine Shaffer; his siblings, Amaya Southworth, Joyelle Cortez, Jadyn Terkoski and Akeem Cortez; his uncle Les; his aunt Tayna Shaffer; his cousins, Kesley Shaffer and Leslee Shaffer; and his close friends, Andrew Babcock and Jake Myers. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, several other cousins.
