In loving memory of Jean S. Scaptura of Watkins Glen, New York, who departed this world on November 16, 2024 at the age of 89. Jean leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Smyder and Leona Smyder (Butler); and her brothers, John "Bub" (Beatrice Smyder) and Joseph (Janet Smyder). She is survived by: her husband James; her children, Michael Scaptura (Diane) of Rensselaer, NY, Christopher Scaptura (Troy) of Springfield, VA, Sharron Holland of Watkins Glen and Joseph Scaptura (Elizabeth) of Horseheads; her siblings, Jerome Smyder (Frances) of Burdett and Jerry Ann O'Donnell (Brian) of Horseheads; her sister-in-law Joan Ann DiSanto (Richard) of North Port, FL; and her grandchildren, Nicholas (Meghan), Sarah (Daniel), Matteo, Casey (Meghan), Matthew, Arianna (Charles), Maria, Andrew, Alexander, Aran and Sean. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church (905 N Decatur St, Watkins Glen, NY 14891). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.

Memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary's of the Lake Church or Seneca View SNF.
