He was predeceased by: his mother Judith Chiera. He is survived by: his sons, Sal and Salvatore; his daughter-in-law Caitlin; his father Salvatore P. Chiera, Sr.; his granddaughter Charlyss Ann; his sisters, Patty Chiera (Mark Hagadorn), Paula Phillips (Phil), Kris Chiera (Tom) and Kay Mastroianni (Anthony); and his girlfriend Jackie Durrant. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
