Michael J. Holmes Obituary
Troy - Michael J. Holmes, 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by family. Born in Troy, NY on September 16, 1961, Michael was the son of the late Ernest and Susie Holmes.
Michael attended Troy High School where he graduated in 1980. There, he was involved in basketball, football, and track. Soon after graduation, Michael served in the Army and Air Force reserved from 1982 - 1988. Over the years, Michael had occupations which included welding and housekeeping at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. Before his passing, Michael had enjoyed using his free time to watch sports and make others laugh.
Michael is survived by his siblings; Sara Pompey, David Beaty, Doris Jackson, and Abbie Holmes along with a large host of extended family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Albany Stratton VA Medical Center and Samaritan Hospital ICU for the care of Michael.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Thursday January 6, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
