He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Jack" Traynor II and Lottie Traynor (Heaslip); his wife Viola B. Wood; and his daughter-in-law Donna Traynor. He is survived by: his children, Brian Traynor of Watertown, Paula Shaughnessy of Watertown and Cheryl Brouty (Michael) of Brownville; his brother Michael Traynor of Watertown; and his grandchildren, Calvin Traynor (Renae), Christine Matthews, Joseph Shaughnessy, Leslieann Tucker, Sean Brouty and Jacqueline Brouty. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of memorial donations, the family requests that something be planted in John's memory as an ode to his love for nature.
