James Leonard Coullier Obituary
James (Jim) Leonard Coullier, 70, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse on December 8, 2023. Jim was born on June 17, 1953 to Leonard J. and Mary E. (Krickmire) all of Watertown.
Jim was a 1971 graduate of Watertown High School, life-time member of the Elk's Lodge, and he retired in 2008 from NYS DOT as a Highway Maintenance General Foreman after 38 years of service. Jim was a great boss and respected his crew. Jim married Theresa (Flynn) Coullier on May 21, 1983 at McAuley Hall Chapel (Mercy Hospital) with Fr. Richard Kennedy officiating.
Jim is survived by Theresa, his two daughters, Michelle E. and Courtney A. Coullier, a sister Barbara (John) Dufresne, nephews Christopher & Jacques, and nieces Renee & Nicole, several cousins, and his "next door" family, the BonDurants. Jim wasn't an in-law but more of a brother, uncle, & friend to his Flynn clan. Jim was pre-deceased by his parents, Leonard and Mary, his "second" parents, William & Mary Flynn Jr, his "brother"-in-law, Scott Fiorentino, and his good friend Dave BonDurant.
Jim loved the Buffalo Bills, also enjoyed hours of splashing around in the pool and especially splashing others, a good Nascar race with surround sound speakers, the years he spent working as part of the pit crew for local racers, golf trips down South, hunting camp (and sometimes hunting), and his Friday visits with Sr. Jessintha. Aside from his family, Jim had a special love for his Yorkie sidekicks, Flynn, Koko, and Boomer.
While we will miss Jim's generous heart, we are grateful to know he is no longer suffering. Join us for his funeral mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 12pm. The family will welcome friends starting at 10am until 11:30am. A burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Donations in Jim's memory may be made to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, 320 W. Lynde Street, Watertown, New York 13601. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Watertown.
