He was predeceased by: his parents, Zane Reed and Emma Jean Reed (McKnight); his sister Darcy Bailey; his siblings-in-law, John Coughlin and Judy Coughlin; his sister Kathleen; and his brother-in-law Ken Troutman.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his children, Courtney Young (Justin) and Sean Reed (Courtney); his grandchildren, Ethan, Raegan Young and MacKenzie Reed; his brother Zane Reed (Patricia); and his siblings-in-law, Thomas Coughlin, Carole Kingston (Robert), Luann Coughlin and Christine Cohn (Gabriel).

“Sadness is all over Waterloo with the loss of Scott. I remember Scott fondly as my history teacher. He use to talk about Attica and his home town. I always felt he was a great teacher. Through the years he advanced to guidance counselor where my two daughters got to know Scott. He was always kind and friendly when he had his appointments at Drs office where I worked. He would always chat with me after he had booked his next appointment. I give my heartfelt condolences to Patty and family.”
