He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrea Velez and Felix Diaz; and his siblings, Delia, Josefa Diaz and Luis Felix Diaz.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Kelly; his children, Ruth Figueroa (Luis), José Diaz and Eunice Diaz; his grandson Alejandro Rodriguez; and his sisters, Gloria Díaz, Carmen Luisa Diaz, Ana Justina Diaz, Ney Diaz Colon, Isabel Diaz and Xista Rafaela Diaz.
