He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hansell and Sarah Hansell (Blakley); his wife Lillian; and his brothers, Lawrence and George.

He is survived by: his children, H. David Hansell (Susan), Margaret Tyska (Joseph) and Marie Joanow (Alex). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
