Andrea Urmston wrote a sympathy message

“Jerry was one of the first to sign on for our Erie Canal paddling trips. We were so lucky to have many years of adventures with him and they just would not have been the same without him- his stories, his laugh, his root beer floats, and willingness to be up for anything. Now whenever we kayak we will think of Jerry with fond memories. Don & Andrea Urmston”

Donald Coyle wrote a sympathy message

“I remember Jerry: for the talks we had while kayaking; the reminiscences of our days at our mutual alma mater (Brooklyn Tech H.S.); singing the "oldies" as loudly as we could while paddling the Erie Canal; deep discussions over root beer floats and the impromptu Oswego Canal trip, too! I will miss his smile and his great laugh. Paddle on Jerry! Don Coyle (aka Tod)”
