He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Gates and Avis Heater Gates; and his siblings, Richard, Edward, Linda and Patricia.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his daughters, Kimberly Grahn and Victoria Faia; his sons-in-law, Matthew Grahn and Richard Faia Jr.; his grandson Matthew Grahn Jr.; and his siblings, Dennis Gates and Muriel Horton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Wallkill Reformed Church.
