He was predeceased by: his mother Veronika Benken (Grosskortenhaus); and his brother William Benken. He is survived by: his father Gerhard Benken; his wife Susan M. Benken; his children, Christine D. Benken and Gary W. Benken of Wallkill; and his sister Monica Carlough of Garner, NC. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service (188 N Plank Rd, Newburgh, NY 12550). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (1250 State, Rt. 32, Plattekill, NY 12568).
