He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Montanaro and Saveria Pipitone; his son Christopher Michael Montanaro; and his siblings, Carmine Montanaro, Patricia O'Brien, Anna Ross, Josephine Montanaro and Louis Montanaro.

He is survived by: his wife Julie Ann C. Montanaro; his son Robert Montanaro Jr.; his grandchildren, Camryn Montanaro, Robert Montanaro III, Taryn Montanaro, Christian Montanaro, Kiley Montanaro and Grace Montanaro; and his sister Diana VanHoran.

In lieu of flowers friends may make contributions to the American Foundations for Suicide Prevention.
