It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sylvia Searles Elam (Wading River, New York), who passed away on December 9, 2021, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Edsworth Searles and Kathleen Searles; and her sister Kathleen Bailey. She is survived by: her husband Kenneth Elam; her sister Marjorie; and her nieces, Trina and Davleen. She is also survived by her aunts, countless cousins, godchildren and friends.

In lieu of flowers, we (Kenneth, Marjorie, Trina and Davleen) request that her memory and legacy be continued by donating to the Canadian Red Cross or the American Red Cross.

“I had the pleasure of knowing Sylvia, her family, when we all attended the same Toronto church. When her family left the church, Sylvia and I reconnected through community initiatives and social events. It was through her, that I had my first opportunity to attend a PUSH Convention! She later moved to Florida, only returning to Toronto at times. But to offer a comment on her unexpected (for me) passing, I am at a loss for words. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. May she RIP.”
