She was predeceased by: her husband Peter Mertens; and her son Randy Mertens. She is survived by: her children, Laurie Ingleston (Mark) of Voorheesville, Peter Mertens (Karen Cozzy) of Albany and Leonard Mertens of Voorheesville; and her brothers-in-law, Roland Eberhard (Christa) and Claus Geiger.
