He was predeceased by: his wife Ann Mattfeld; his parents, Frances L. Mattfeld and William Mattfeld; his brother Thomas Mattfeld; and his son-in-law Peyton Moore.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Mattfeld, Susan Bollentin (Robert), Steven Mattfeld (Tracy), Ann Moore (Peyton), William Mattfeld (Elin), George A. Mattfeld (Ashley) and Christian Scharl (Mako); his grandchildren, Anna, Matthew (Chelsea), Jacob Feller, Sarah, John Mattfeld, Ryan Moore, Cordelia Chesson, Isabella and Frances Mattfeld; his stepgrandchildren, Jessica Wilkinson (Sean), Kathryn LaPenta (Doug) and Andrea Kearney (Thomas); and his siblings, Edythe Dodge and John Mattfeld.
