He was predeceased by: his former wife Margaret [Gentle] O'Dea; his parents, Margaret [Barry] and William R. O'Dea, Sr.; and his sister Ann Weigert (Ken). He is survived by: his children, Patricia Weigert (Mark), Kevin O'Dea (Jill), William O'Dea (Sandy), Sean O'Dea (Gretchen), David Zarneke, Dennis Zarneke (Kim) and Timothy Zarneke; and his grandchildren, Shannon Power (Dustyn), Timmy O'Dea, Nicki West (Jim), Kyle O'Dea, Courtney O'Dea and Connor Zarneke. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
