He was predeceased by: his wife Cherie Burcroff Exton; his parents, Walter Thomas and Mary Inez Exton (Elliott); his stepmother Lena Exton; his brother Earl Exton; and his siblings-in-law, Grace Aldridge, Frank Aldridge, Olive Holtz and Elmer Holtz.

He is survived by: his sons, Richard Exton (Linda), William Exton (Beth) and James Exton (Jenny); his grandchildren, Amy Exton-Delph, Betsy Exton, Heather Exton-Allen (Brian), Dawn Exton, Amber Exton, Megan Exton and David Exton; his great grandchildren, Stephen, Gage, Bryce, Brayden and Harper; and his sister-in-law Betty Bagshaw. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
