He was predeceased by: his wife Florence Spittal (Dillman); his daughters, Joann Shaffer and Sandra Polito; and his grandson Justin Sherman. He is survived by: his children, Hilda Thompson (James) and John Spittal (Sharon); his son-in-law Fred Shaffer; his grandchildren, Peter Thompson (Brenda), Jason Sherman (Allison), Kenneth Shaffer, Kellie Collazo (Angel) and Beth Jackson (John); and his great grandchildren, Emily Thompson, Cort Sherman, Trenton Sherman, Nya Sherman, Kelvin Collazo, Ashton Collazo, Morgan Collazo, Everett Jackson, Maxwell Jackson, Parker Jackson, Haley Shaffer and Lily Shaffer.

Donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.
