He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Merrick; his brothers, James, Raymond, Robert and Richard; and his grandson Clayton Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Ellsworth; his sister Loretta Paul; and his children, Debra Hurst (Ed), Denise Brown (Mike Carey), Donald Merrick (Hylene) and Diane Arnold (Scott). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
