He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Constance McElwain; his daughters, Emily Gorton (William), Karen Brown (Mark) and Diane Jacob (Christopher); his brother Merton McElwain (Ellen); his sister-in-law Barbara McElwain; his siblings, Shirley Cook, June McElwain and Glenn McElwain; and his parents, George McElwain and Eva McElwain (Smiddy). He was also cherished by 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Karen Brown at 5020 Crescent Circle, Canandaigua, NY 14424, for a memorial tree to be planted in the Village of Potsdam, in memory of Burt.
