He was predeceased by: his parents, Briddie Orr Joyner and Ernest Joyner Sr.; and his siblings, Marie Brown, Ernest Joyner Jr. of Davis, Helen Mitchell (Bobby), Ruby Broderick, Susie Sutton, Lenora Walters, Juanita Pettaway and Shirleen Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Geneva Kirkland Joyner; his daughters, Briddie F. Joyner Alstrom of Ontario and Bridgette V. Mitchell (Dennis Mitchell) of Tenafly; his granddaughters, Danielle L. Mitchell, Hailey A. Alstrom, Angelique V. Mitchell and Shayna R. Mitchell; and his siblings, Alverna Gaskin of Danbury, Valerie Davis (Melvin Sr.) of Lake City and Edwin Joyner Sr. (Gladys) of Fayetteville. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends.
